That’s right, by taking the change you have in your pockets, purse, vehicle or anywhere you keep change, can help you to start saving money. Think about it, you can start saving your change today and you are guaranteed if you continue to save your change every day, that you will save a significant amount of money over time.

You’ve been saying, that it’s hard for you to save, and you just don’t make enough money to be able to do this. Well, you can start slow by just taking that spare change you have laying around and putting it in a jar and just let it grow over time. It won’t take long before your change jar starts growing and you now have money saved.

Imagine when you count the amount of change you’ve saved, after six months of dropping your change in your jar, you are astounded at how much money you have collected in just a short period of time. You can do it, just start saving your change today! Don’t wait to save, it doesn’t matter that you’re starting out small by saving your change. It only matters that you just start saving!

These five tips should help you when you start saving your change:

1) Get yourself a jar to put your change in. Nothing fancy needed, the idea is get yourself a jar so you can start saving your change now!

2) Make it a goal to collect all your change and put it in a jar on a daily basis from either your purse, wallet, clothing, vehicle or any other place you may have your change.

3) Put your change jar in a special place in your home where it is not tempting for you or anyone else in your home to remove change from your savings jar.

4) Make it habit to keep all the change you receive when making purchases so you can place this change in your change jar.

5) Plan to count your change every six months and deposit your change into a special savings account at your bank. This will assist you in keeping track on how well you’re saving money by saving your change!

You may think this idea of saving money by saving your change may not work. I’m here to tell you that it will! Over the years I have used this method to save money and it has worked very well for me. In fact, I have several change jars around my home that I always use for my change. I have been able to save lots of money by doing this. It is easy and I have trained myself just to drop my change in my jars, which helps me to continuing saving money on an ongoing basis. So, if I can do it, I know you can.

So, save money by saving your change today, so you can help yourself to improve your finances today and for your future.

Cheers,

Save money before buying something, if you don’t have the money, you don’t get it

Dave Ramsey has made his living by re-teaching adults this simple lesson that many of them have seem to have forgotten. As the Proverb says, “The eyes of man are never satisfied.” We live in a nation (maybe even a world) where far too many people have forgotten “how to say “NO”. We teach our kids to use a piggy bank, and when they have saved up enough, then they can go buy an ice cream cone. We debate whether “college kids are mature enough to handle credit cards – but are we?

2. It doesn’t matter what other kids are doing

I still remember hearing, “if your friends jumped off a bridge, would you follow them?” in response to my longing to do what my friends were doing. It seems that as adults we play into that crowd-think much like kids. This “Keeping Up with the Joneses video illustrates the point so well. At times I have found myself so guilty of “seeking to impress others, but it seems that the path that yields the best results is the one less traveled!

3. Money isn’t a right or privilege – it is compensation for hard work

My parents did a pretty good job of driving this point home to my thick skull. Like many, I was a lazy “teenager that needed money and eventually figured out that by working I got more money. If I cut one lawn I would get $10, but if I cut two lawns I would get $20. It was a difficult concept to grasp, but I eventually got it! The government doesn’t owe us anything, we owe it to ourselves to discipline ourselves to work hard.

“He who tills his land will have plenty of food, but he who follows empty pursuits will have poverty in plenty.” Proverbs 28:19

4. If it seems too good to be true – it probably is!

I remember on numerous occasions getting excited about an opportunity presented to me and running off to my Dad only to tell him about it. His healthy dose of skepticism saved me a lot of wasted time and energy. I notice that there is always an abundance of scams to prey off of people willing to fall for them. I still get forwarded emails from people that promise that Bill Gates will pay them $450 for each person they forward it to as compensation for helping Microsoft test the email system. Seriously? Don’t you think Bill Gates would have a more cost-effective method for testing?Sometimes great opportunities present themselves, but it is always wise to tread cautiously.

5. You can be anything you want to be when you grow up

This is one that I forgot for while and am working on remembering again. I am so thankful for my recent career change and am looking forward to what the future has in store. I have a lot of other things that I want to do while I am on this earth, so I am working to fight off self-limiting thoughts. Life is too short to do something you don’t enjoy for all of it! God didn’t create us to spend 40 years in a job we hate! He has a better purpose and plan for our lives – but it requires our following after Him!

Once an experiment that was done with a group of chimpanzees. These chimps were placed in an enclosure that had a pole in the center. On top of the pole was a platform that had a treat on it (bananas or something). Whenever one of the chimps would try to climb the pole to get at the treat, the researchers would hit the group of chimps on the ground with water from a hose. Eventually, if one would try to climb the pole, the others would grab it, to prevent the group from getting sprayed.

After a while, the researchers quit spraying the chimps. The chimps behavior, however, continued. They still kept anyone from climbing the pole. After a while, none of the chimps tried to climb the pole anymore.

Later, the researchers introduced a new chimp into the group, and removed one of the originals. The new chimp tried to climb the pole, and was instantly pulled back down by the group. After awhile, it quit trying to climb the pole, too.

New chimps were introduced one by one, and original chimps were removed. Eventually, all of the original chimps were gone. None of the chimps currently in the enclosure had ever been sprayed with water. Yet none of them ever tried to climb the pole, because each time they did, the group would pull them back down.

Think about that. None of the chimps even knew why they weren’t supposed to climb the pole, yet they all enforced it just out of habit. Because that’s the way it’s always been.

People behave in the same way. If we try to do something extraordinary with our lives, and we tell people about it, we’re worried we’ll be ridiculed for it. Mocked and shamed into conformity. People tell us it can’t be done, simply because they’ve never seen anyone do it before.

Well, I think it’s time that it stopped. Thumb your nose at the rest of the chimps and climb the pole. Do what you want to do, and don’t worry about what other people think.

These are the lessons that I’ve learned :

Everyone’s scared.
No one has it all together. If you talk to any successful person, you’ll find out that, not only were they scared to begin doing something different, they still get scared every time. It gets incrementally easier, but the fear never goes away. Professional athletes still get nervous before the game. Musicians still have butterflies in their stomachs before concerts. Authors freak out the night before their books are released. What you’re feeling is no different that anyone else.

No one’s paying attention to you.
This is a corollary to lesson #1. People are so worried about how things are going for them they don’t have time to be concerned about anyone else – especially you. Consequently, people spend time worrying about other people, who really have no time to worry about anyone else because they have problems of their own. See how silly this all is? Oh, sure. There are some people who are paying attention to you. But, they’re usually your spouse or family or really close friends. The kinds of people are going to be supportive of you, anyway. That’s a good kind of attention.

You have to know where you want to go.
What’s the old saying? “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will do”, I believe is how it goes. You need to figure out what your dreams are for yourself. Once you’ve figured out what you want to do, you can put a plan together to achieve it.

One of the things that always concerned me about goals was hearing all of these “self-help gurus” saying you have to set huge, aggressive, audacious goals for yourself. The implication was that if you don’t dream big, you might as well not bother. That always put me off, because I’ve never wanted anything really big in my life. No huge mansions or Ferarris, no yacht in the Caribbean.

I came to believe that everyone needs to start somewhere. If you have a lot of credit card debt that you want to get paid off, that’s a fine dream. There’s nothing wrong with your dream of a debt-free life. You don’t have to want to build a multi-million dollar business in order to put the power of dreams to work for you. Just start dreaming, and however big or small they are is good enough for now.

Do what makes you happy, and don’t worry about others.
Obviously, you have to be smart about this. I’m not saying run out on responsibilities and obligations you have set for yourself. What I’m saying is that there are very few people in this world who’s approval you should be after. Your spouse and kids, maybe your extended family’s, if they’re supportive; that’s about it. If a person doesn’t have a vested interest in your success, you can confidently disregard what they think about what you’re choosing to do. The only way you can count your life as truly successful is if you’re doing what you’re meant to do, regardless of what society at large thinks of it.

Conclusion is that you have be yourself in doing what you want to do in life and make it happen.

Saving money is very important. It is one of the most important steps to achieving your financial goals in life and becoming financially free. The sooner you begin to save the better of you will be later on in life.

Having a savings can also serve as a form of protection during a financial crisis. A financial crisis could include any of the following:

• Job Loss ( Retrenchment )
• Unexpected expenses ( i.e. auto repair or medical expense or household appliance failure )
• Children education expenses

When building savings, debt is avoidance. A savings serves as your cash reserve or safety net when you need it. The key is to have it before the need arises.

How Much Should You Save !!!

The rule of thumb is to save a minimum of 10% of your take home pay or minimum of 1% in the beginning. By doing this on a regular basis, you become used to it and accustomed to living below your means. If you are able to save more then 10 percent, you will have more in future.

It is also recommended that you have 3 to 6 months worth of expenses saved up as your emergency fund. This amount includes all expenses, fixed and unfixed. For example, if in January you spent a combined total of $2500 on your mortgage, car note, utilities, insurance, food, credit card bill, and other expenses, then you would need to multiply $2,500 x 3 at the minimum. This means you should have between $7,500 and $15,000 saved up for emergencies.

Unfortunately, the sad reality is that many people live paycheck to paycheck with little or no savings. This is not good. You should work to build your reserve as fast as possible and as soon as possible.

Automate Your Savings
Make an auto transfer directly to your savings when you get your pay. For example, if you choose to transfer 10 percent of your after income to your savings on payday, 90 percent of your after tax dollars would go into your checking account and the remaining 10 percent would go to your savings account. It’s that simple. You eliminate the guesswork and don’t have to worry about it.

Start As Early As You Can
In order to truly become financially free, you will have to start saving at some point in your life. Ideally, you should start in your twenties. If you around 40, its not late to save but start doing it. Understandably, income level at that age 20 will not be as much as someone in their fifties. The key is to simply start where you are. As time progresses, your income level will increase in direct proportion to your experience and educational advancement. This means that your ability to save more will increase as well. It is recommended that you start out saving 10 percent of your after tax income. As you get raises and bonuses, if you stick to the same 10 percent savings, over time, your savings level will grow and grow.

There are several benefits of starting to save at an earlier age. However, the primary reason is that you have time on your side if you start at twenties. The sooner you begin, the more you will be able to accumulate over time. This protects you when emergencies arise. By building your savings now, you will have a larger nest egg available when you need it.

There are three primary factors that determine your savings accumulation levels:

1. The amount you save.
2. The interest rate of return.
3. The length of time you save.

Time is what can work for, or against, you. Therefore, the sooner you start, the better.

Tips on Saving
Growing your savings can take time; therefore start as early as possible. The amount doesn’t matter in the beginning. Just start some place and be consistent. Condition yourself into not missing or needing that amount. Over time, your savings will grow due to your diligence. Here are some tips on saving to get you started:
• Save a minimum of 10 percent from your paycheck monthly.
• Use the direct savings account deposit feature ( automate your deduction to saving account ).
• View your savings as another bill that has to be paid.
• Whenever you get a raise, increase your savings amount by a half percentage point or more.
• Save 10 percent of all cash gifts you receive.
• Once you pay off a line of credit (car note, credit card, or mortgage), continue to pay that same amount toward your savings.

A penny here, and a dollar there, placed at interest, goes on accumulating, and in this way the desired result is attained. It requires some training, perhaps, to accomplish this economy, but when once used to it, you will find there is more satisfaction in rational saving than in irrational spending. ~ The Art of Money Getting, by P. T. Barnum
