Do YOU pull out your battery whenever you use an AC adapter!!! ……….. YOU HAVE TOO!
It is a common sight in many places even university campuses and libraries students or working adults pulling out the battery when they connect their laptop to the AC adapter.
The myths is that a battery that stays charged all the time gets damaged more easily than one that does not. It can be traced to back to older generation of nickel cadmium rechargeable batteries.
The thinking was that the memory effect that a battery needs to be fully discharged before it can be charged again. If not fully discharged once a while can cause batteries to deteriorate.
However, all the batteries in today’s laptops use a lithium ion compound and do not need to discharged totally. In fact, if you discharge fully lithium batteries might cause damage to the batteries. Nevertheless, it is good practice to pull out the AC mains adapter and use the battery to power the laptop once or twice a week to keep it in tip-top condition. This will and can help you to avoid hunting very often for laptop replacement batteries and also helps reduce your cost.
